Market Drayton is a bustling market town where every Wednesday the main street through the town is closed off to allow local stallholders to set up and sell their wares.

At the heart of the town lies the Buttercross, a lovely stone portico that was built in 1824 to act as a cover for the local stalls.
The old town fire bell still hangs from the monument to act as a memorial to the fire that started in a local baker’s in 1651 and almost destroyed the town.
As you venture a little further out of town you can enjoy the delights of the Shropshire Union Canal and the breathtaking 40 steps aqueduct.
